Case Study

Case Study: 01

IP Multicast Over VSAT For 8,700 Locations

Customer Requirements: Content delivery to media players via IP Multicast over VSAT for 8,700 locations, installed during a 5-week period. The installation process was designed for Customer self-installation, with Westport phone support provided for edge cases. Each Customer location required unique static IP addressing. All players were pre-configured and pre-loaded with content prior to shipping from Westport’s warehouse, ensuring a smooth and efficient setup.

Results: The project resulted in a successful deployment, achieving a smooth and quick rollout across all 8,700 locations within the specified timeframe. The unique technical requirements were met, providing a solution that no other provider could offer, leading to high client satisfaction.

Case Study: 03

3rd-Party Streaming & Locally Cached Content Delivery

Customer Requirements: The project required Westport to use our client’s specific third-party music stream to support 1,200 locations. To achieve this, we needed to develop code to manage our media players while having them receive the music stream from the third-party. To ensure uninterrupted service, we also created a music buffer with local files on the media players in case of temporary stream loss (network fade).

Results: The project achieved seamless integration by successfully incorporating the third-party music stream with our music platform. This ensured continuous music delivery, providing a reliable and consistent music experience for the end-users. Additionally, the enhanced user experience was maintained by minimizing interruptions through buffering local files, thereby sustaining a high-quality in-store atmosphere.

Case Study: 04

Automated Middleware For Credit Card Transaction Management

Customer Requirements: Our Client needed an automated (hands-off) solution to handle failed credit card transactions for their 580 Customer locations, minimizing manual intervention to disable and re-enable the media players, along with following up with the customer to get updated credit card information. They required real-time updates and notifications for both failed and restored credit cards, along with a comprehensive overview of transaction statuses across several thousand locations via a Client dashboard.

Results: The creation and implementation of the automated middleware significantly improved the Client’s credit card transaction success rate. Previously, the Client experienced an average of 83% successful transactions per month and had to manually pursue updated info from each failed Customer location. After deploying the solution, their monthly average increased to 98%.

Case Study: 02

On-Premise Content Servers For Security Requirements

Customer Requirements: The project required content update servers to be co-located in the Customer’s data center for their security purposes. It also involved a rollout across 1,400 locations, with Customer’s regional managers responsible for installing media players. Each location needed unique static IP addressing. All players were pre-configured and pre-loaded with content prior to shipping from Westport’s warehouse, ensuring a smooth and efficient setup.

Results: The project ensured enhanced security by housing servers in the Customer’s data center, guaranteeing secure data handling. The rollout was efficiently managed and successfully completed across all locations on time and on budget.
